PAR has been informed that the City of Phoenix Police and Neighborhood Services Departments are cracking down on signs placed in the right-of-way! If you are placing your open house signs on the sidewalk, you are considered in violation. As a general rule of thumb, signs should be placed a minimum of 2 feet behind the sidewalk and have the property owners permission. The right-of-way varies widely throughout the City of Phoenix. You as a REALTOR® are responsible for complying with this even if you have a sign company erect your signs. Recently, PAR members have reported Phoenix Police Officers are stopping by open houses to inform agents that their sign placements are in violation of city code.
